| CONFERENCE VENUE :
Kathmandu, Nepal. |
| ABOUT NEPAL: Geographically, Nepal lies between India and the Tibetan Autonomous region of the People's Republic of China. One can probably say that Nepal is as old as the Himalayas, when a great lake filled the Kathmandu Valley. One legend holds that this lake was drained by a thunderbolt thrown against the walls of the Valley by the Hindu god Krishna. Another claim it was drained by the patriarch Manjushri. The recorded history of Nepal starts around 800 BC. In the beginning several small kingdoms were established which were united in 1768. Since then, Nepal has remained an independent state. Recently, Nepal turned into a Democratic Republic as decided by the newly elected Constitutional Assembly on May 28, 2008. Nepal is incredibly diverse with respect to geography, climate, culture, language, bio-diversity, etc. Nepal possesses some of the most outstanding bio-diversity in the world, ranging from sub-tropical Rain-forests to Alpine deserts. There are 240 mountain peaks exceeding 6100 Meters. 8 of world's 10 highest including Mt Everest can be viewed from Nepal. The highest peak in the Himalayan range is Mt. Everest (8848 M) in the north and the lowest point is 70 M in the south. Temperature to the north is below -40 degrees Celsius and in the Terai (southern plains), temperatures rise to 40 degrees Celsius in the summer. Nepal, the birth place of Lord Buddha has Hinduism and Buddhism as the two main religions which co-exist down the ages. Many Hindu temples and Buddhist shrines share the same complex and both the worshippers may regard the same god with different names. Nepalese are peace loving, polite, hosp itable and light-hearted people. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and an ancient city which is famous for its temples and Buddhist stupas. It is located at an altitude of about 1400 m within a beautiful valley in the mid-hills of the Himalaya. The temperature during early April in Kathmandu is generally between 12 - 27 °C (spring season) and mountains are covered with spectacular blooming spring flowers. Nepal is certainly one of the most stunning trekking, skiing and ultimate adventure region on the earth. Abundant natural attractions including world’s magnificent mountains, valleys, ancient monuments, excellent cuisine and year-around colourful flora make ever lasting memories on every visitor Visa can be obtained from Nepalese Embassy/Consulate offices abroad or on arrival in Nepal.
