Tokamak Modeling Group

Main Objectives

  • Tokamak plasma modeling (evolution, equilibrium and stability)
  • Computational physics support for tokamak design (optimization of PF magnet locations, current waveforms)
  • Eddy currents, magnetic field and EM load modeling
  • Analytical and Numerical Code development for external projects
Current Activities
  • Modeling time-evolution of SST-1 tokamak plasma by TSC and other codes
  • Modeling of Equilibrium and Stability in advanced-tokamak modes
  • Kinetic Monte Carlo studies on diffusion of hydrogen in graphite
  • Molecular dynamics studies on interaction of hydrocarbon molecules with graphite surface
  • Physics of thin film growth
  • Modeling for external projects

Special Equipments

  • Desktop PC's running RedHat 9.0
  • A PC Cluster called SAPTARSHI consisting of 6 P-IV and a File server with Linux RedHat-7.3 as O/S.
