The main objective of SST-1 Operation and Control group is to design and develop SST-1 central control system. The central control system will be responsible for overall SST-1 plant survillience, operation and control.
Current Activities
Remote monitoring of signals
Remote control of system elements
Ease of use via Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Proper sequencing of various subsystem of tokamak
Proper predefined or dynamic phase control of the tokamak as per the discharge objective
Detection of anomalous operational modes, alerting the users of such situations and, where possible, executing automatic procedures to ensure personnel and machine protection.
Archiving operational parameters for future restoration and analysis
To provide support for executing fast real time tasks of the order of 100 microsecond to 1 ms scale
Design and development of Timing system to synchronize all SST-1 subsystems and deliver the events to all subsystems of SST-1 in realtime.
Automation to handle the processing of large numbers of signals from variety of diagnostics in real time in support of decision making
To provide support for real time visualisation of some plasma parameters
To provide support for interactive control during a pulse.
To provide researchers located at SST site and elsewhere with access to the facility in support of the remote operation, physics planning, analysis and co-ordination of experimental objectives
In addition to the above, the SST control group has do perform following task:
Consulting and co-ordination of subsystems control development efforts, including the tools and interface standards definitions for machine.
Cost efficient development and maintenance of subsystems perform central control effort would also include specific support for systems such as the synchronisation system, the controlled access system, the Safety Interlock System, the Control Room Facility, audio and video equipment and the networks
Special Equipments
VME based control systems, GFLOPS DSP, VME based timing system, Reflective memory network, Audio/Video Projection and broadcasting system. Lower end servers and workstations, Micro Controller FPGA programming, vxWorks [Realtime operating system], High speed Fiber optic gigabit LAN switches.
