Data Center Infrastructure

Overview

The DCI Section is responsible for operational management of Data Centers. Primary Data Center (PDC) is providing required infrastructure for IT services running 24x7 for round the clock operations. The facility is running with high uptime and; managing round the clock internet services through Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and distribution to various public networks. The additional data center requirements from various divisions are being catered by Containerized Data Center (CDC) for running servers/computing machines 24x7 with high uptime.

Activities

The state-of-the-art IPR Primary Data Center has been operational since January 2017. This Data Center has a total of 14 rack facilities with cooling and UPS power supported through multiple levels of protection. It hosts all critical IT infrastructure as well as HPC (High Performance Computing) systems. To support this IT infrastructure, a dedicated cooling system and a robust UPS system with backup facilities operate round the clock. The operations and health monitoring of the Data Center are carried out 24×7 through the NOC (Network Operations Center) to ensure high availability and uptime.

The main features of the IPR Primary Data Center are:

• Complies with the TIER III international standard (ANSI/TIA-942 standard).

• Modular UPS of 400 kW capacity (200 kW in N+N mode).

• Dual independent electrical distribution paths serving the IT equipment and racks.

• Two air-cooled scroll chillers (60 TR capacity each) functioning in N+N mode.

• In-rack cooling system (Liquid Cooling Package) with a cooling capacity of 55 kW for each LCP.

• Fire-rated (120 minutes) partitions, doors, false floor, false ceiling, etc.

• Secured entry through biometric access and access cards, CCTV surveillance, rodent repellent system, in-rack fire suppression system, etc.

The additional data center requirements of various divisions and sections are catered through the Containerized Data Center (CDC), which is used for running servers and computing machines.
