The Safety Section works to keep the workplace safe for employees, students, researchers, and visitors. The section develops safety policy, safety guidelines, protocols, etc. and ensures their implementation across the organization.

The section organizes safety training, emergency preparedness programs, mock drills, and awareness campaigns on various topics such as fire safety, chemical handling, gas cylinder safety, electrical safety, cryogenics safety, etc. It also monitors laboratory and workplace safety practices, investigates incidents and near-miss events, and recommends corrective and preventive actions.

In addition, the section maintains safety documentation and prepares evacuation plans for effective emergency response. The Safety Section also manages 24×7 firefighting service contracts to ensure proper operation and maintenance of fire safety systems and equipment.
