Q. I wish to present the results of the work carried out in the NFP/ PFRC funded project in a National/International conference. What is the procedure ?

A. First, the IPR coordinator of your project must be intimated and his consent obtained. NFP must then be intimated regarding this with details of conference, copy of abstract and  other information.

Q. I wish to publish the results of the work carried out in the NFP / PFRC  funded project in a peer reviewed journal. What is the procedure ?

A. First, the IPR coordinator of your project must be intimated and his consent obtained. NFP must then be intimated regarding this with details of the journal, copy of the manuscript and other information, and sanction for the same obtained before the manuscript is sent for publication.

Q. I wish to patent the work carried out under the NFP project sanctioned to me. What is the procedure ?

A. NFP encourages the PI to patent their work. As the first step, an "Agreement on Joint Patent Filing" (availiable here) has to be signed between the PI and IPR. Once this is done, the PI is free to initiate the process for filing the patent. Regarding payments, BRFST will share half of the incurred expences for the patent filing process.  However, this amount will not be paid upfront by NFP, but will be adjusted against  NFP's share of the royalties that the patent would generate. Other issues related to this can be discussed on a case to case basis.

Please note that as per NFP norms, prior permission needs to be obtained from NFP before the PI submits the results originating from the NFP project for presentation in any National/International conference or for publication in any National/International journal / Book / Report.
