Gattu Ramesh Babu

Mr. Gattu Ramesh Babu was born in Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana) and completed his schooling in Nalgonda. He was a Gold Medalist in B.Sc., and also in M.Sc., Physics from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1998 with specialization in Electronics. In 1999, he joined Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar as a Scientist-C after completion of IPR's Technical Training Program (TTP-6 batch).

He worked with First Wall Dn., and latter with SST-1 Vacuum division related to temperature data acquisition system of plasma facing components and vacuum vessel of SST-1. He have experience in vacuum baking and packing systems, helium leak testing, outgassing experiments, temperature sensors and related equipment calibration, scanners and data loggers, SCADA based RS 485/232 computer data acquisition development, 3-axis Hall sensors based magnetic field mapping of ADITYA, photogrammetry based metrology using commercial DSLRs, electromagnetic field codes development in Python.

He joined Outreach division in December 2021 and is involved in executing various outreach activities of IPR and is presently with Outreach Science Section involved in development of plasma based models, resource materials and conducting of academic visits to IPR. He maintains the Outreach division server, Outreach Webpage development, hands on basic science camps for school students. He contributes to the setup and giving talks during plasma exhibits and conducting basic science quiz competitions for students.

His other interests are in MS Excel macros development, Savings and Income-tax guidance, conducting quiz programs in English and Hindi for various occasions, active participation in Extra-curricular activities viz., Hindi Pakhwada, Swachchata Progrmas and is also an vivid barefoot ultra-marathoner.
